Resonant Metasurfaces with a Tangential Impedance

چکیده

Metasurfaces formed by monopole and dipole resonators are studied theoretically. The Helmholtz or membranes vibrating on the first eigenfrequency; ones spheres springs second eigenfrequency. It is shown that acoustic properties of metasurface built-in can be described an equivalent impedance, which characterizes a normal forcing to surface, whereas this impedance not suitable for resonators, because motion excited tangential surface. For such boundaries, new characteristic named “tangential impedance” proposed. This ratio derivative sound pressure along coordinate boundary velocity boundary. impedance. Reflection absorption coefficients surface with found harmonic plane wave in dependance incidence angle. angular dependences very different metasurfaces.

Resonant metasurfaces at oblique incidence: interplay of order and disorder

Understanding the impact of order and disorder is of fundamental importance to perceive and to appreciate the functionality of modern photonic metasurfaces. Metasurfaces with disordered and amorphous inner arrangements promise to mitigate problems that arise for their counterparts with strictly periodic lattices of elementary unit cells such as, e.g., spatial dispersion, and allows the use of f...

Planar photonics with metasurfaces.

Metamaterials, or engineered materials with rationally designed, subwavelength-scale building blocks, allow us to control the behavior of physical fields in optical, microwave, radio, acoustic, heat transfer, and other applications with flexibility and performance that are unattainable with naturally available materials. In turn, metasurfaces-planar, ultrathin metamaterials-extend these capabil...

Near- and far-field spectroscopic imaging investigation of resonant square-loop infrared metasurfaces.

Optical metamaterials have unique properties which result from geometric confinement of the optical conductivity. We developed a series of infrared metasurfaces based on an array of metallic square loop antennas. The far-field absorption spectrum can be designed with resonances across the infrared by scaling the geometric dimensions. We measure the amplitude and phase of the resonant mode as st...

Planar immersion lens with metasurfaces

The solid immersion lens is a powerful optical tool that allows light entering material from air or vacuum to focus to a spot much smaller than the free-space wavelength. Conventionally, however, they rely on semispherical topographies and are non-planar and bulky, which limits their integration in many applications. Recently, there has been considerable interest in using planar structures, ref...
